Abdolrasoul Ahmadi, Managing Director of Mobarakeh Steel Clean Energy & Power Industries Company (SANAP), emphasized the shift during a recent industry exhibition: “Constraints on fossil fuel resources have compelled industrial leaders to pivot toward renewables. We are currently developing a 600-megawatt solar power plant—the largest of its kind in the country—with 120 megawatts already commissioned and supplying electricity to our production facilities.”

The renewable strategy also includes the construction of a 200-megawatt wind farm in the Razavi Khorasan Province to power subsidiary operations. MSC expects to bring the full 600-megawatt solar capacity online by the end of 2025, marking a significant milestone in its journey toward carbon neutrality.

Ahmadi concluded:
“Contrary to the traditional perception of steelmaking as a high-polluting sector, we are successfully mitigating our environmental impact through clean power generation. Our goal is to achieve a seamless synergy between high-volume steel production and decisive climate action.”
