Mobarakeh Steel (MSC) is ensuring its sustainable development and enhancing product quality by implementing knowledge-based projects, overcoming challenges from sanctions. A key part of its “green steel” strategy is the circular economy, marked by the launch of Iran’s first steel industry waste recovery unit.

This new facility processes clarifier sludge and oxide powders using an advanced, fully domestic technology. The knowledge-based process boasts an efficiency of over 90 % and an annual recovery capacity of over 25,000 tons of process waste. Using nanostructure materials, advanced oxidation, and microfiltration, the unit converts this waste into high-purity iron concentrate for reuse in the pelletizing plant. The system is designed to be zero-waste, as the separated, non-polluting impurities can be repurposed for use in construction materials like bricks and flooring.
