In 2018, Isfahan’s industries embarked on a groundbreaking initiative to secure their water future, shifting their focus from the Zayandeh Rood river to the vast resources of the Sea of Oman. This bold project, which broke ground in 2022, will see the construction of a 570-kilometer pipeline to deliver a total of 70 million cubic meters of water to the region’s industrial sector.
Once operational, this ambitious early-start phase will free up water from the Zayandeh Rood river, allowing the industries to reduce their reliance on this critical freshwater source. This strategic move is poised to create a more sustainable water balance for the region, benefiting both the environment and the local community.
