Vajiollah Jafari, Deputy for Mining Affairs and Mining Industries at the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade , noted:
Iran’s mining supply chain and its related industries generate approximately $14 billion in annual exports. Speaking at the National Mining Day commemorations in Hamadan, Jafari emphasized that these figures underscore the critical role of the mining sector in driving national employment and creating significant value-added for the economy.
As a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the Iran Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO), Jafari also highlighted Iran’s strategic global standing, noting that the country currently ranks fifth in global copper reserves. He added that this position could be further improved through new discoveries.
In line with this goal, Jafari announced that the “National Exploration Transformation Plan” is currently being implemented, with a primary focus on attracting new investments to the field.
Providing performance data for the sector, Jafari revealed that despite numerous challenges, growth in the mining sector surged from 1.8% to 6% during the autumn of 2025 (1404 SH). He described this trend as a testament to the high level of resilience within the industry during difficult economic conditions.
