According to the analytical news outlet IRASIN, Seyed Mohammad Atabak, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade, speaking today at the 30th National Export Day ceremony held in the presence of the President, emphasized the urgency of expediting decision-making processes related to non-oil exports. He stated: "While the private sector is represented on the Supreme Non-Oil Export Council, given the numerous government agencies involved, it is essential to form a committee prior to raising issues at the Supreme Council. This will allow necessary matters to be examined and resolved internally, leading to faster decision-making."
He continued: "I request the President to authorize the formation of a committee comprising the Iran Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade, and the Central Bank of Iran, enabling it to decide on issues and challenges in the shortest possible time. Should matters require escalation to higher levels, the working group's resolutions can be submitted to the High Supervisory Council for approval."
Atabak added: "Under current conditions, border situations can shift rapidly over short timeframes; therefore, accelerating decision-making and removing obstacles facing exporters is of paramount importance. If issues require higher-level review, the working group's decisions will be presented to the High Supervisory Council for approval, ensuring the problems of export operators are translated into final, actionable decisions as quickly as possible."
Highlighting the unveiling of the Export Atlas, the Minister added: "Widespread adoption of the trade atlas will positively impact national exports. We hope the Export Atlas unveiled today will serve as a definitive reference for economic operators. Crucially, this atlas must be continuously updated—a responsibility that falls under the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran."
Necessity of Strengthening Iranian Traders' Presence in the Eurasian Market
Pointing to the opportunities within the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) market, the Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade emphasized the necessity of expanding the presence and activity of Iranian merchants in this market, stating: "A joint meeting was held last week with Andrey Slepnev, Minister in charge of Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission, who stressed the need to increase the presence of Iranian merchants and make fuller use of the trade capacities of member states."
Expressing appreciation for the efforts of Iranian exporters, Atabak noted: "Despite Iran's standing in this domain, substantial capacity remains to expand our traders' activities in the Eurasian market. Consequently, economic operators must establish a broader and more effective presence in the markets of countries that hold trade agreements with Iran."
Agreement to Prevent Export Disruptions Over Standardization Issues
Addressing standards and related hurdles, Atabak stated: "Through negotiations with relevant officials at the Chamber of Commerce, agreements have been reached to prevent the suspension of export processes due to standardization issues."
He added: "Under these agreements, it has been arranged to allow the use of the country's prevailing standards alongside certificates of origin, ensuring that export processes and standards-related procedures continue without interruption."
